The Devils have made a flurry of moves. They began by trading goalie Jacob Markstrom as part of a salary dump. Markstrom had many ups and downs over his two years; he led them to the playoffs in year one, but both seasons were marred by injuries that dampened his performance. The extension given to him by the prior general manager was an albatross for new GM Sunny Mehta who in exchange got proven winner in two time Stanley Cup winner Evan Rodrigues. Mehta’s next move was extending captain Nico Hischier for another five years. In addition to the two big-name moves, the Devils signed many depth players in free agency and look to improve further as a team looking to win a Stanley Cup.
