Week one of the preseason has wrapped up for the Jets, and there are plenty of positive takeaways. Rookie quarterback Cade Klubnik performed well in his two drives, showing his ability to handle pressure after being thrust into the starting role just an hour before kickoff. Projected starter Geno Smith didn’t play due to an ankle injury, so Klubnik had to lead a position group he hadn’t yet practiced with. Offensive mainstays Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall also shone in their limited playing time, which was an encouraging sign. The first-team defense played up to par as well, swarming to tackles and preventing any explosive plays. The preseason isn’t always a tell all sign of what’s to come in the regular season, but a strong start is all fans can ask for.
