The Devils have got their goaltender, on Friday they traded for star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. It is a massive trade that puts the Devils as contenders for the Stanley Cup. General Manager Sunny Mehta and Hellebuyck both affirmed this in their press conference yesterday as Mehta praised the overall team but stated that this trade was his sign to both the team and fans that he believes the Devils are ready to win. Hellebuyck stated that he’’s earned many accolades in his career including a gold medal alongside Jack Hughes earlier this year, but that he’s missing one thing a Stanley Cup. The stated goals of both the Devils organization and Hellebuyck is a great thing to energize the team and fans, but also adds pressure to a franchise and fanbase that’s been waiting for a Cup for over 23 years.
