The Dallas Mavericks have traded their star player Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis and one future draft pick. Luka is a top five player in the entire NBA and has brought the Mavericks success which makes the trade shocking. There were no earlier reports about either the Mavericks or Luka having tension that would cause a trade. The return for the Mavericks for trading a player of Luka’s stature is awful. Anthony Davis is a star but he’s older than Luka. The biggest misstep for the Mavericks is only getting one draft pick. The Lakers have more picks that the Mavericks could’ve gotten. Teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets could’ve offered either four or five picks. The Lakers on the other hand won this trade. They get LeBron James a better teammate in Luka than compared to Anthony Davis. Luka is also young which means the Lakers can keep him around for the post-LeBron years and still have a talented team.
