The Mets have beaten the Pittsburgh Pirates to bring them back to the .500 mark. From now until the end of July the Mets are playing to be a serious playoff contender for one of the wild card spots. July 31st is the trade deadline so in most years that is the point where a team has to decide if there chance at making the playoffs is realistic or not. For the Mets they are in an odd place. Since the start of the season they’ve had only two good stretches. The reason for the two stretches was a team wide consistency. The way for them to have another good stretch before the trade deadline is to have a rock solid bullpen. Injuries and suspensions have ravaged the bullpen all season. Nunez and Butto have been good additions. But for the bullpen to become solid then pitchers such as Edwin Diaz, Reed Garret and Jake Diekeman have to find consistency. I am not sure about Diekman,
