Mets Opening Day Struggles

The Mets lost 3-1 to the Brewers earlier today. The few bright spots were the bullpen. In 4 innings they only gave up 1 run and two pitchers had scoreless outings. Their can be some positives about the starter. Jose Quintana limited damage throughout his 5 innings pitched. The 2 runs given up could’ve been 4 or 5. The struggles came from the offense. A lineup only having 1 hit in a game is putrid. The game is worse when you realize that the Mets only walked twice. The Brewers pitching shut the offense down. Some people will make excuses that the Brewers pitchers are good. The excuses don’t work because almost every team has good pitchers. The only life the Mets showed was Jeff McNeil getting angry at Rhys Hoskins for both spiking his leg and sliding late. If the offense being dormant continues in this series and into the following games then there are issues. I hope that doesn’t happen, but there’s always a chance it will.

  1. Well done.                                Well done. Peralta was tough and hitting should improve. Good news that bullpen looked OK. Marte sounds like he’s back.
