This week, I attended a forum with Mets announcers, Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, and Ron Darling. The trio are fan favorites and widely regarded as one of the best booths in baseball. During the roughly hour and 15-minute forum, which was hosted by Drew University president Hillary Link, the trio discussed several topics. The current Mets dominated the first part, with all three agreeing it was a good offseason. Gary stressed that off-seasons are long, which is a very valid point. Keith said the team’s defense will have to grow together. And, Ron stressed the importance of losing Pete Alonso, as he realizes how emotional fans are about Alonso. The latter half switched to the playing days of Keith and Ron. Mrs. Link spurred it on by asking about Pete Rose, and Keith told stories about how he and  Rose interacted. Ron told the story of his debut and how nervous he was to face Rose. Overall, the forum provided valuable insight into the lives and perspectives of all three announcers.
