The Devils have gotten off to a decent 1-1 start. The two games were good challenges as both were against perennial playoff teams, the Hurricanes and Lightning. The Devils’ goaltending was average as Jacob Markstrom performed well enough in both games for the Devils to win. The offense performed decently as stars such as Jesper Bratt, Nico Hischier, Dougie Hamilton, and Timo Meier all scored goals. Depth scorers also showed up in players like Cody Glass and Connor Brown. Splitting two games against top-tier Eastern Conference teams is a good start, but sustained success should be the goal this season, as it wasn’t there for a good chunk of last season.
