The Mets will not play playoff baseball in 2025 after a three-and-a-half-month fall from glory. It was a prolonged collapse; since mid-June, they have had the third-worst record in all of MLB. Players such as Pete Alonso and Juan Soto had individual seasons, but a team isn’t made up of individuals. The team that made the NLCS fantasticlast year was a true team. On the pitching side, the pitchers just ran out of gas after being overworked. Injuries to Griffin Canning and Kodai Senga were also major derailments. The entire organization will have a long offseason to think over and address the failures of 2025.
