Pete Alonso has broken the Mets’ all-time franchise home run record. All-time Met Darryl Strawberry previously held the record. Alonso broke the record of 252 home runs in a historically short amount of time, having made his debut in 2019. The breaking of the record is a massive accomplishment for both Alonso and the fans who have always adored Alonso. After the home run, Alonso received a well-deserved curtain call from his adoring home fans. It may appear that Alonso’s monumental home run gave the whole team a spark of enthusiasm as they went on to win last night’s game in a 13-5 rout of the Braves.
