Mets Open Spring Training

The Mets preformed greatly in their first game of spring training. Starting pitcher Clay Holmes went perfect by allowing no base runners in three innings. Holmes was a free agency signing and his outing adds confidence to the pitching staff. Star free agent addition Juan Soto was amazing as he hit a home run in his first plate appearance. The home run was to the opposite field which is even more impressive. The competition wasn’t the best as the Houston Astros didn’t play any of their projected starters. Spring training isn’t always about the competition, it’s about seeing the way players play in new settings.
