The Mets have resigned pitcher Sean Manaea. This is a good move. Manaea makes the rotation both better and deeper. Manaea will either be the number one or two pitcher. As of right now the Mets have six solid to great pitchers. A great team needs pitching depth and the Mets have that. The years on the contract also make it a good move. It is for three years which makes the Mets more flexible. The Mets can add more pitchers either in the off-season or in season and still have money for future years. The future money can also be spent on Pete Alonso. The short term length on Manaea’s contract makes it easier to offer Pete a long term contract. The Manaea resigning makes the Mets better in the present and has a chance to have many ripple effects for the Mets future.
