The Mets 2nd half slump

The Mets are three games into the 2nd half and issues have arisen. They have lost two out of three games to a bottom-feeding team in the Marlins. Pete Alonso has been dreadful. He has been a rally killer, either by striking out or grounding into a double play. The clutch gene he has had in the past is nowhere to be found. Pete’s issues have created issues for the whole team. Pete is relied on to be a bat who gives the lineup a spark. When a lineup has no spark it makes every pitcher on the team worried. The worry comes from pitchers wanting to change how they pitch to others in the lineup in order to limit run damage. This means that pitchers have to change their pitch styles. Change for a veteran pitcher is a recipe for that pitcher to make a mistake. If this continues then the Mets playoff chances will lessen.
