Pete Alonso’s future with the Mets

As we move closer to MLB opening day the Mets have a big choice to make. Star first basemen Pete Alonso is entering his final year before he’s able to be a free agent. New president of baseball operations David Stearns when he’s been asked about a contract extension has said that he and Pete both hope for Pete to have a great year. No contract extension before opening day seems to be the case. My hope is that the extension is done before opening day. My contract offer would be for 6 years $250 million. Pete is entering his 30s after this season and this contract would last until his mid 30s. The amount of years is good for the team and Pete is able to get one more contract if his production doesn’t fall off. Pete is a great locker room guy and player so if the Mets lose him it will be a big loss both ways.
