The Devils are losers of five straight and that losing streak has dropped them out of playoff position. The Jack Hughes injury curse has stuck once again, as it’s struck now in multiple seasons. However, an injury to one player is no excuse for such a pertinent losing skid. The Devils have been outshooting their opponents, but have found no “puck luck”. Some fans have called for longtime general manager Tom Fitzgerald’s job for being so reliant on one player in Hughes. This call is shortsighted, as players such as Nico Hischier, the team’s captain, should be able to step up. For the Devils to sustain success, the whole team has to play to its weight.
